To the Canopy--WIP

OH NO! RAYMAN STEALS BABIES!

No, really, I can explain.

You see, Rayman used to live in a tribe that made their home at the very tops of the colossal, towering trees of the forest. When he was still a kid, though, he left that place and moved into the valley, where people make their homes on the ground. But he still loves to travel back up into the canopy, and sometimes he will go to the nursery and take a pair of kids with him to see the sights. The only way to get up all those hundreds of feet is by leaping along a 'trail' made from of a species of plant that floats in the air... (think back to Rayman 1 and the level where you could plant seeds) ...therefore he usually carries the kids, who can't make those kinds of jumps.

I'm having a lot of trouble coloring this picture--tried three times already and I can't seem to get the effect I want. I'm no good with shady forest scenes, or backgrounds in general. Maybe I can get somebody better to color it someday, or wait for an age or two till I get good enough to make it work.

BTW... the kid on the left has a cord attached to his hand because he's got a birth defect that makes him randomly lose his connection with it... so it will just drop off without warning. His older sister, to the right, likes to steal his hand and run around with it. Needless to say, the little brother has low self-esteem.
